Since a few weeks the team of New Heroes is complete. First there was Antwan Scott, few days later Justin Watts came to Den Bosch, and last but not least Charles Mitchell arrived.
Last summer he played for the Denver Nuggets in the Summer League and before that he played for Colorado State University. At this moment he is important for New Heroes with his drive to the basket, his fanaticism and his interaction with the fans. That interaction with the fans is something we saw a lot in Den Bosch, but this year it looks like it has reached another level. All three players, while playing, create a positive vibe which is noticed by the fans. Guess Bob and Jos did a great job finding those 3.
Justin Watts won the NCAA Championship 2009 while playing for the University of North Carolina. He turned pro in 2013 and won a QBL championship with the Rockhampton Rockets. He went on to play in Mexico, Japan ( All star in 2015) and Uruguay before he landed in the Netherlands. Now he is showing his skills in the Maaspoort, and the fans have already noticed that he is an athletic guy who can play spectacular basketball. But, when necessary, he plays very professional and dedicated. Guess you won’t see him do “magic tricks” when the game needs full attention and it’s crunch time!
Charles Mitchell played for Georgia Tech before. He came to Den Bosch a few weeks ago and since then the smile hasn’t dissapeared from his face. The crowd immediately loved him and from the first game I saw him play it looks like he is here for already a few years. No nerves in his first game, needed no time to adjust to the team and started scoring and rebounding like he did in the States.
Tonight (10-12-2016) New Heroes will play at Apollo Amsterdam. Last game against Apollo ended in a 62-74 loss, guess tonight will be a complete different game. Amsterdam has lost a few games the last weeks, and New Heroes is getting stronger each week. Next week New Heroes will play at Leeuwarden ( 17-12-2016) and after that our friends from the States can fly home for a while to spend Christmas with their loved ones. Or do they love Den Bosch already that much that they will stay in the Netherlands during holiday season?
